The contacts on Saturday via phone and email told me how this was going to go. Regardless of the cancellations I still went out and did the ride. Decided to ride out from home to the park (10 miles) just in case someone showed, not. Actually, that was fine and I rode the route solo.
It did start out chilly but I also commute to work so layering up is no big deal. With the ample sunshine and rising temps it did not take long to begin layering down. I rode for about 6 hours which included my return leg on graveled/dirt roads. After having such a great ride I just had no interest in listening to traffic noise along the M29 shoulder. I would estimate I did about 38-40 miles.
This was the first time my 63 Raleigh left the tarmac. With a more upright position I even like it over my hardtail "mountain" bike. I won't set any speed records but we are touring, right?
